Human Resources administers the personnel policies and procedures adopted by the Lyon County Board as well as classification and compensation plans, performance planning and review programs, and maintaining personnel records for each employee. Human Resources coordinates the recruitment, selection, orientation, development, transfer, and separation of employees. Affirmative action, Civil Rights, Minnesota and Federal Family and Medical Leave Act, long-term disability, HIPAA and ADA compliance are also major functions of the office.  The office coordinates and administers employee benefit programs for all departments, and works closely with Lyon County Administration and the County Board. In addition, Human Resources  supports all Lyon County divisions and departments in the areas of:

  • Employee Relations
  • Leads County wellness initiatives
  • Labor Relations
  • Employee Health & Safety 
  • Risk Management/Workers Comp
  • Employee Recognition Awards
  • Grievance and Disciplinary Action

Property Appraiser

Lyon County Property Appraiser
Lyon County is seeking an individual who desires to be a part of the changing work process and environment in our developing Assessing Department. This position is responsible for the inspection and appraisal of agricultural, residential, commercial/industrial and personal property; and work involves outside “field” inspections as well as in an office setting. Minimum requirements: AA or technical degree with experience in real estate, building construction, property appraisal or equivalent combination of education and experience. Correctional Officer

Lyon County is accepting applications for the position of full-time Correctional Officer; females are encouraged to apply.  Minimum Qualifications Include: high school diploma and valid driver’s license. The current range of hourly pay is $18.43-$25.79, with two pay increases in the first year of employment, and full county benefits.
