Twin Lakes Grand Opening

About 200 people helped celebrate the Open House for Twin Lakes Park on Friday, May 27. The long-anticipated park was funded in part with a grant from the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment as administered by the DNR Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program. (http://www.gis.leg.mn/iMaps/Legacy/index.php?address=florence,%20mn).

The park is open for camping! It has 15 electric sites with 100' gravel camping pads, and one ADA compliant electrical site that is paved. There is a shower / bathroom building, and an excellent picnic shelter that easily hold 8 picnic tables. Though shade is currently at a premium, the site has been planted with shade trees that will leave a lasting legacy well into the future.

For more information about the park, call the Lyon County Environmental Department at (507) 532-8214.

Update: 2017 Spring Load Restrictions

PUBLIC NOTICE

Spring Road Restrictions will be removed April 14, 2017 for most Lyon County highways. Signs remaining in place will dictate legal weight limits. Please contact the Lyon County Highway Department at 507-532-8205 with any questions.

Lyon County is announcing that truck spring load restrictions will be starting Friday
February 17, 2017 for all Lyon County Highways. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced the starting date of spring load
restrictions in the SOUTH FROST ZONES starting on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 12:01 a.m. In general, spring load restrictions on local roads (county, city and township roads) follow the
same dates as the State Trunk Highways, however any local road can be restricted at any time
during the year so long as the restricted load limit is posted. This depends on the condition of the
roads. The local road authority can keep spring restrictions on longer if they deem them
necessary.  MnDOT can keep state highways weight-restricted for a maximum of 8 consecutive weeks. The Lyon County 2017 Spring Load Restriction map can be viewed at the Lyon County website at
www.lyonco.org.  A regional map showing neighboring counties’ road postings is also available. Please contact the Lyon County Highway Department at (507) 532-8205 for further information.
