Proper disposal of hazardous waste protects human health AND the environment, and prevents costly, tax-funded cleanups. Although the Clean Shop Program as a cost-effective, easily accessible method for disposal, pollution prevention and waste reduction provide better prevention of toxic polluting.

The Regional Clean Shop Program is set up to help businesses and non-profit organizations dispose of small amounts of hazardous waste which they produce. This program gives businesses easy access to a cost-effective means of disposal, thereby avoiding potential environmental, financial, and health and safety problems.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Businesses and labor organizations which generate 2,200 pounds or less of hazardous waste per year and are located within the ten county region can participate in this program. The region includes Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock and Yellow Medicine Counties.

COSTS TO PARTICIPANTS
The Clean Shop Program offers a cost-effective method to dispose of hazardous wastes. Only minimum disposal costs will be charged to businesses depending on the type and amount of waste to be disposed. A current price list is available from the Clean Shop Program manager.
