The Lyon County Veterans Van is used for transporting Lyon County Veterans to and from VA approved appointments outside of Lyon County.

How do I schedule a ride to the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, St. Cloud or Montevideo CBOC?

The Lyon County Veterans Van travels to the Sioux Falls VAMC, St. Cloud VA, and the Montevideo CBOC. (The Veterans Van does not travel on any weekends or holidays). A family member or friend may accompany you on the Veterans Van if space is available. To schedule a ride, call (507) 537-6729 at least four days prior to your appointment.

Lyon County Veterans Van Schedule:

Sioux Falls VAMC every Tuesday and Wednesday

St. Cloud VA HC on the 1st and 3rd Mondays

Montevideo CBOC on the 2nd and 4th Mondays

Thursdays and Fridays are as needed if driver available.

What does it cost to ride the Veterans Van?

There is no charge to ride the Veterans Van. Contributions from Lyon County, veterans service organizations and the public help support the Veterans Van service as well as your Lyon County Commissioners.

Where do I meet the Veterans Van?

Passengers can be picked up and dropped off at the Government Building (Courthouse building) in Marshall.

When does the Veterans Van leave and return?

The departure time is determined by the first scheduled appointment of the van riders that day.  After all passengers have completed their appointments at the Sioux Falls VAMC, St. Cloud VAMC, or the Montevideo CBOC, the van will return to where they were picked up at. The van driver has the authority to cancel a van trip due to poor weather-related driving conditions.

Appointments are strongly encouraged to be between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Who drives the Veterans Van?

The Lyon County Veterans Van is driven by friendly fellow veterans.

An important note to Veterans Van passengers:

The Lyon County Veterans Van is not wheelchair accessible. Passengers must be ambulatory and able to get in and out of the van on their own. The van cannot transport anyone with a serious or acute medical condition, life threatening emergency, or requiring continuous use of an oxygen tank.
